Charting a Path to Professional Growth & Success

Professional Goal

As an educator and teacher trainer, my professional goal is to expand my credentials to include emerging technology and training for innovative solutions. With the ever-evolving landscape of technology, it is crucial for educators to stay up-to-date and equipped with the latest tools and methodologies to enhance the learning experience for students.

I aim to provide more comprehensive training and support to educators, helping them to integrate these new tools into their classrooms effectively. My goal is to provide hands-on training and resources that will enable educators to use technology in creative and innovative ways to enhance the learning experience for students.

​

In this way, I hope to contribute to the development of a more technologically advanced and innovative teaching community. I believe that with the right training and support, educators can transform their classrooms into dynamic, engaging learning environments that will help prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.

Professional Goal

As a professional in teacher training, I have a goal to foster growth and leadership in young adults and aspiring educators. I believe that by investing in the growth and development of our future educators, we can create a stronger and more effective teaching community.

To achieve this goal, I plan to provide mentorship and guidance to aspiring educators, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to become effective teachers and leaders. 

​

I also aim to encourage young adults to pursue careers in education by showcasing the many rewards and opportunities that come with teaching. By serving as a role model and sharing my own experiences in the field, I hope to inspire the next generation of educators and leaders.

​

I believe that I can contribute to the growth and development of a strong and effective teaching community, one that is focused on providing the best possible education for all students.

Personal Goal

As a dedicated professional in the field of education, I am committed to ongoing professional development in mentorship and leadership. I believe that investing in these areas is critical to my growth as an educator and leader, and to the growth and success of the teachers and students I work with.

​

To achieve this commitment, I will actively seek out opportunities for mentorship and leadership training, both within and outside of my current position. I will attend workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities, and will actively seek out mentorship and guidance from experienced educators and leaders.

​

I also recognize the importance of sharing my own knowledge and experiences with others, and will strive to serve as a mentor and leader for aspiring educators and leaders. Through mentorship and leadership, I hope to inspire others to reach their full potential and to make a positive impact on the teaching community.

​

In all that I do, I am committed to ongoing growth and development in mentorship and leadership, with the ultimate goal of creating a stronger and more effective teaching community that provides the best possible education for all students.

Adams State University, 7 school districts in the San Luis Valley, and multiple partners are collaborating to share resources and increase Entrepreneurship & Innovation learning opportunities for high school students.

Scholarship Committee

Adams State was awarded a five-year grant of $2,838,865 that will help expand education opportunities for Hispanic and low-income students. It was awarded by the Department of Education’s Promoting Post-baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans (PPOHA), a Title V program for Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI’s).

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Author/Designer

A certificate program for educators focused on real-time needs for the classroom. The Contemporary Practices Certification will be comprised of courses to support teachers in Social & Emotional Learning, Technology, and Culturally/Linguistically Diverse educational practices.

LEARNING TO TEACH RESEARCH PROJECT: AUGMENTED REALITY IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

During an international exchange seminar, a group of US and German researchers completed a project to be presented for the Learning to Teach program. The project explored the use of augmented reality programs in mathematics education. A sample activity was developed to support teachers in AR instruction in Geometry for 4th/5th grade classes. A survey was distributed to practicing teachers for feedback on advantages and disadvantages of AR in math instruction.
As a supplement to the research project presentation, the group designed an interactive experience to guide the audience through a practical engagement with augmented reality.

LOCAL EDUCATOR HIGHLIGHT AWARD PROJECT

Project Lead

Purpose: To work with local media outlets and communities to recognize and highlight Adams State
University School of Education alumni, prominent local teachers, and other educational professionals
working within or hailing from the San Luis Valley. In so doing, Adams State University hopes to build
familiarity with the community as a serious education destination.

TECHNOLOGY: CODING ROBOT PD WORKSHOP

As an instructor in the School of Education, I focus on educational technology resources for the K-12 teaching and learning experience. I am passionate about integrating technology in practical ways for teacher training in order to develop valuable skills and knowledge for success in the digital age. 

Upon receiving funding through an FTAC grant (2023-24), I was able to acquire coding robotics kits to develop a professional development workshop which can be used for my courses, as well as for local educators interested in the professional development.

 Coding & robotics utilize unique and innovative tools that greatly enhance the experience of preservice educators. Coding/robotics technology enhances computational thinking in students through experiential learning. This interactive approach will not only engage and motivate students, but also help them develop valuable skills in problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. Extensions and collaboration with the math methods course optimally integrate the coding activities into teaching content with the technology utilization.
