CAREER INSIGHTS

My Experience

TEACHING & ACADEMICS

Throughout my two decades of experience as an educator, I have dedicated myself to ongoing professional development through attendance at numerous conferences and professional development sessions. My areas of expertise include Health, Wellness, Physical Education, and Personal Finance, and Technology and I have taught these subjects to students ranging from elementary to high school. In addition, I also teach a First Year Seminar class for aspiring educators at the university level, as well as a course for licensure candidates that focuses on promoting health and safety. More recently, I developed a new course for licensure candidates that prepares them for effectively integrating technology for instructional purposes.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

The majority of my leadership has been cultivated through my role as a coach managing high school and community soccer teams. In 2011, I began leading educational tours to Europe. The planning, organization, and leadership responsibility for an activity of this magnitude played a huge role in my leadership development. I also took on extra leadership duties in the school as a Graduation Coach and lead teacher for the county virtual school, where I began working alongside the administration to support teachers with at-risk students needing nontraditional approaches. I served as liaison for the alternative school and joined professional organizations to further expand my agency.

ADVISING & MENTORING

As an advisor for the Initial License Program in the School of Education at Adams State University, my role involves providing guidance to both graduate and undergraduate students pursuing degrees leading to initial teaching licensure. Prior to my role at the university, I have gained extensive experience working in K-12 schools, where I have demonstrated my commitment to mentoring young teachers and coaches in the community.

SERVICE & VOLUNTEERING

In service to the profession and as a leader in education, I have hosted numerous fundraisers and events to celebrate students and athletes, where I gave speeches to hundreds of parents, school staff, and students. I spent a year as a volunteer assistant soccer coach at the university, sharing my passion for the sport! Serving others is a huge part of what motivates me as a person.
